The rain.
It's sweet. It's mighty. It's comforting. It can be cold and scarry. It can be dangerous. It can be gentle. It can be dark. It can come quickly when you're not expecting it.
Kind of like life.
Kind of like my day yesterday.
The lies of "you have no one to call on, where and who are your friends?" sat over me yesterday.
The cold and scarry part of the rain.
While trying to take G into speech therapy yesterday, she slammed me down to the ground in the parking lot, while pulling my shirt, hair, and ripping my earring out...while screaming on occasion.
That would be the coming quickly when you're not expecting it and dangerous part of the rain.
What? My husband and #1 helper won't be home until tomorrow?
That would be the dark and again the not what you're expecting part of the rain.
Being prayed over by two sweet friends in Jesus while letting the tears fall after the "storm" had quieted for a bit.
That would be the comforting part of the rain.
Looking out of our window this morning to see a beautiful pink flower in a vase on our front porch rail.
That would definitely be the sweet part of the rain.
Pausing for a moment under our big umbrella after the kids had been escorted to the bus this morning.
That is for sure the gentle part of the rain.
I love how and when God came to speak so sweetly and clearly to my heart this morning. At a time that I was not striving for it.
He washed over me with the truth that HE is my umbrella, He is my shelter. My security. My safety.
But what if a big gush of wind or rain picks up and sways my umbrella I asked? Oh yes, that will happen and you may get wet for a moment, but just pull your umbrella back up.
Oh, so it is my job to get under the umbrella. Set myself under Jesus daily and hold my umbrella up. Okay. Then rest in Him and enjoy the ride.
"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus..." Hebrews 12:2
"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust." Psalms 91:1-2
